Lucie (formerly Gypsy) joined our family in early September, and let me tell you, how quick things changed! Weekends and evenings used to be filled with romantic dinners, movies etc. and now we are definitely full time parents. Long walks and "doggie talk" is our reality now. Although Lucie is now the boss of the house we would have it no other way.

She is truly a great girl. Lucie has really developed her confidence and has even learned a few tricks. It was joy watching her personality shine through after her first few shy days.

My husband and I would like to thank SHARES and Lucie's foster family for giving her a chance. You do great work.  Jodie

Thank you so much for finding our new companion. Her new name is "Maggie" and she settled in right away. In fact I swear she has even taken over control! She likes to go for walks and is very good on the leash. She hasn't mastered the inside stairs yet and waits for someone to lift here up and down. How spoiled is that? She seems to like children and was introduced to a whole class at daycare.  Her tail just kept wagging. She also likes car rides and has her own spot in the backseat.

I am sending a photo of Maggie which was taken just after we adopted her (before she was groomed) I hope to send another after she has been groomed. Thank you, Don, Laura and Maggie

I just adopted a 10 week old kitten named Jack from SHARES, through Petcetera at West Edmonton Mall. He is a very energetic, healthy and sweet kitten. He is adapting very well to our home, getting along tremendously well with myself, my husband and our roommate. He is getting along well with my special needs Cairn Terrier and my 5 year old cat whom we adopted from the SPCA 3 years ago. Jack is full of energy and loves to play. I look forward to many long wonderful years with him in our household. Michaela

I was drawn to Harlee immediately because she reminded me of our gentle Lab, Kayla, who had just been diagnosed with cancer and would not be with us much longer. We spoke to Harlee's foster mom, and explained our predicament and she was very understanding. I continued to check the website daily and would see if Harlee was still there. When Kayla passed away, Roxie (our other dog) and our kitties were very sad. Harlee came to our home for a visit because it was not known how she was with cats, and when she arrived she walked past the cats with no issue... she had just adopted us!

Harlee loves going on walks and likes wearing her Halti. We also recently added to our family another Lab brother and he has everyone playing. That is what it is all about, helping these wonderful 4 legged kids enjoy life the way it was intended.

Thank you to Jean and Anne for fostering Harlee long enough for us to adopt her into our family.

We adopted Kayne in February 2006 I fell in love with him when I saw his picture. At first he was a little shy and skinny but since we brought him home he weighed about 35 lbs and he's gained about 20lbs in just over 2 months. He's warmed up to everyone here and loves to give hugs and play with
his toys and the kids soccer ball. He is great with the kids and other dogs and he walks well on his leash now. He does like to dig up the backyard a bit but we are working on that. When I saw him and his brother on the website I knew I wanted to have one of them if not both. Unfortunately we couldn't take them both and choosing was very hard and I cried when I left his brother behind. Kayne is a Border Collie cross with a Great Pyrenees and we are so happy we could make him part of our family.

Coonhound "D" or Dixie from Saucier, Mississippi has turned out to be a wonderful little girl. We can't even imagine what she went through during hurricane Katrina but she is settling quite well with our other two hounds. When we first brought her home she was a holy terror. It became obvious that she was an outside dog, as she had no inside manners at all. She learns quickly and our Redbone Coonhound boy just loves to play with her. However, our Beagle cross girl can't stand Dixie but we noticed that other Beagles don't seem to have any love for Dixie either. When we got Dixie we were told that her estimated age was two. The way she plays and the amount of energy she has lead us to believe she isn't much older than one. She had hook worms when we got her and she was quite skinny. The hook worms are gone and she has put on just enough weight to look like a movie star. She is a nice looking hound and just the right size. Our love for Dixie grows each day and she is just a joy!

Yoshi is doing really well. He's a super pup!! He tends to sit on my deck and then once every hour or so goes and patrols around my mother's house to make sure everything is safe there! He loves to play with that rope... we have a really fun game going where we play a gentle game of tug-of-war and then I let him take the rope... until I can steal it from him... and then he chases the rope all over the place as I run with it dangling behind me.  He has lots of cat buddies to play with. We adopted Bandit at the Petcetera on 137 Ave in Edmonton, Alberta. She has adjusted very well to her new home and enjoys her play time at the local dog park. She has made many new puppy friends as well!

Just to let you know that Koda is doing fantastic and fitting into our family wonderfully. She is so sweet & gentle. I've attached some pics of her and the rest of her new family, including us.

Suzanne the 'Foster Mom' was so great and the dogs just love her! She is so calm and relaxed and very caring towards them! She has such a great yard for them.

As our phone call indicated Nicklaus is such a gift. I have had many dogs and have never had one like this one. He is so caring and gentle and loving. He is very proud and  learns whatever you teach him after no more than three times!!!

I'm trying very hard to make sure that he has a wonderful home and that I can return to him all that he gives to me!

Your organization is so important and anything that I can do to help, please call.

Sincerely, Sharin
